Motivation is something we all struggle with from time to time. The way we see it, motivation is an undulating wave, not a linear line exponentially increasing. That’s why we think it’s important to foster a holistic relationship with your own motivation, leaning into times of increased motivation & not forcing it when you feel less inspired.
That being said, here’s 3 ways we find really useful at boosting our natural motivation:
#1 Goal Setting
The metaphorical carrot on a stick, goal setting. By setting ourselves short, medium & long term goals we have something to work towards with purpose, instead of hoping we’re headed in the right direction. This may also help bring goals into light that we weren’t even aware we wanted to achieve!
By splitting goals into short, medium & long term, it provides an almost step by step approach to those bigger long term goals.
#2 Celebrating Wins
It’s important to acknowledge your achievements & progress towards your goals no matter how small they may seem…By celebrating wins, you remind yourself that you are on track & making tangible progress towards your goals.
#3 Reflecting on the previous 3 months
It’s easy to get too wrapped up in where you aren’t rather than remembering where you’ve come from. Reflecting on where you were 3 months ago can serve as a big motivator when you realize how much you have achieved rather than focusing on how far you have yet to go.
Remember to be kind to yourself & understand we aren’t always going to super inspired & super productive if we are burnt out & over-worked.
