We all want to finally get our sh*t together right?
It's just that one thing you need to start doing (going to the gym, stretching, journaling, meditating...YOGA)
But, Wednesday comes & your new life is already boring & we're back to Standard Street.
We're all human.
And really, what you're trying to do, is actually very hard...you're trying to re-wire your brain.
Because others are more qualified to summarize, I'll quote:
There is a phenomenon that happens as we age called synaptic pruning. Synapses are connections between the neurons in your brain. The basic idea is that your brain prunes away connections between neurons that don’t get used and builds up connections that get used more frequently. *
And as such, we often fail at creating strong, new habits.
Here's where Habit Stacking comes in!
It's the idea of pairing (or stacking) a new habit with an older, much more entrenched habit.
Step #1 Find Your Most Powerful Habit
What do you do everyday come rain or shine? Is it the morning coffee...morning scroll?
You want to pick a habit you do no matter what. It may be something you don’t even consider “a habit”.
Step #2 Work on new habits in order of importance.
Pick one habit at a time & make sure it’s something you really want to achieve.
Don’t try to form 8 new habits at once, it’s demotivating .
Step #3 Integrate your new desired habit with your current habit.
By “stacking” your new habit with your current, entrenched habit you are piggybacking some motivation from a habit you have already successfully intertwined into your everyday life!
The Habit Stacking Formula:
After/Before [CURRENT HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT].*
